Landlord Insurance
Landlord insurance is for owners of rental properties. This includes people who own apartment buildings, condos or townhomes. The insurance pays for repairs or loss of the property. A policy might also cover the cost of lost income when the property cannot be rented after a mishap.
Anyone who rents property is qualified for landlord insurance. This includes people who rent to family members or friends. A person is even qualified if they are renting out a property, but are not actually charging rent. A person who rents out a vacation home for a short period of time is eligible as well.
The policy protects the landlord so that he or she will not lose money on the investment due to things beyond their control. For instance, this insurance covers repairs and replacements when the property is damaged due to a storm or fire.
Landlords can invest in policies that cover damages caused by tenants and loss of income during repairs. Some policies cover personal items in the home, like furnishing and household goods. Specialty policies are available for floods and earthquakes.
Renting property is profitable but risky. Failure to have insurance can cause a landlord to lose their investment. A landlord should make sure their homes, condos or apartments have coverage in case of disaster. Repairs, loss of income and tenant damage can bankrupt a landlor
